Ask the right questions!
This is crucial. You don't want to prepare for your meeting thinking about everything you want to tell them and show them, but you should anticipate their needs and present your product as a solution to their problems.
Questions you should ask your buyer:
- What do they feel their customer is missing when shopping their assortment?
- When/How often do they reset their modular? What is the timeline?
- Expectation of item movement to be considered successful?
These questions will create a dialogue where the buyer can share their expertise on the category and then you can figure out how your product will satisfy the buyer's needs. It's very important to make sure you are open-minded and willing to hear out any suggestions the buyer may have because it could earn your company millions down the line!
When you take this approach to the buyer, it makes it difficult for them to want to turn you away. The way to win your meeting is to show the buyer how your product will help their category perform its best!
